Food Prices
Not only have I paid more for street bagels this past year, farmland value is at a record high with the increasing costs of food production and consumption. The average cost of bread in the U.S. is $1.37/lbs right now. There was that one time Hungary was on the pengő, around 1946. Inflation was high that a florint was about 4×1029 pengos (quadrilliards of pengős!: 11.74 florints=1USD in 1946). Bread was also ten cents a loaf in the U.S. at the time which roughly equates to 8×1026 pengős. I wonder what the cost of the most expensive bread is now. It would give you a reason to use the most expensive toaster in the world ($382).
I just wanted a post where I can talk about the economy and have a reason to say quadrilliards. The prospects of carrying around money bags so I can buy bagels is hilarious and tragic at the same time.
