Dinner at Blanca (Roberta’s Sister)
Last month, I went to Blanca at (behind?) Roberta’s with a few restaurant buddies before we even knew it was called Blanca. Roberta’s had gained notoriety and numerous accolades for their pizza in the New York food scene but foodies and restaurant folks started talking about the tasting menu that was recently introduced there. While the tasting menu was loudly buzzing with interest, the folks at Roberta’s were quietly building Blanca in the back. We were there when the space was *technically* finished and to be honest, I have no idea how my friend managed to score the reservations (he does have Thomas Keller’s phone number though and is probably all like, “Hey Tommy!”).

The space is absolutely beautiful and the kitchen will make any chef jealous. Additionally, to our (non) surprise, this man was sitting just down the counter from us. The menu may be pricey ($180 per person), but keep in mind that there are 22 courses and you’re there for a few hours for the adventurous feast.

I can’t remember exactly what I ate and I would normally ask Chef, but he could not go (and he gets really, really pissed when Roberta’s is brought up). Luckily, the slideshow accompanying Sifton’s article does show some of the dishes we ate. See the 22 dishes we had (plus a few extras) of the tasting, after the jump.

I think it’s important to show some of the stuff I drank too:

Including this digestif:

They also have this awesome fish head on the wall:
