Dinner at Louro
I know I’ve mentioned Louro before because my friend Dave is the chef there! I went there on Friday night with a few friends and it was really exciting because none of them have had Dave’s food before. I’ll always adore his food — maybe it’s the richness of the dishes, the flavors, or maybe it’s the fact that he usually has a lamb dish on the menu (my favorite lamb dishes in the city have always been something he’s made). I’m also always in awe of him: how he seems to never run out of food ideas, and how Louro became a reality rather than just a dream. After having so many Dave dishes for the past three years, he always manages to surprise me.
As you probably know from some of my previous restaurant posts, I do not review restaurants because of obvious conflicts of interest. That being said, here is my dinner at Louro in photos.

Seared foie gras with roasted cauliflower

Gnocchi romano with truffle cream and cipollinis

Lobster risotto with Himalayan rice

Mushrooms with sea buckthorn, hazelnut, and puff pastry triangles

Seared scallops with tangerine, pumpkin seeds, and fennel butter

Orecchiette with escarole, cannellini, and garlic broth

Duck pate with black truffle and picked red onions

Lamb chop for two (more like six! The meat just fell off the bone and it was so juicy. I really did dream about eating it for two days straight but then again, you guys have no idea how deep my love for lamb is.)

Peanut butter pain perdu

We were in such a food coma that I cannot remember what the other two desserts were. I think one was a pineapple cake with coconut ice cream and I think the other was pear crumble with olive oil ice cream…

Dave took care of us way too well.
I went back to Louro again for Sunday evening snacks before jetting off to visit a friend and eat more snacks at Rouge and Canon. I can’t wait to go back, and I also want to go back on a Monday night for his Nossa Mesa Supper Club dinners at Louro. I’m already at looking at dates for my next weekend trip back to New York. Hopefully this summer…
