Salad Towers

I recently received an e-mail forward from my dad about the Chinese Pizza Hut salad bar from a Chinese colleague. The Pizza Huts there typically offers a salad bar but you can only fill it once in a small salad bowl — I think the salad is a free with purchase type of deal. To get their money’s worth, some people use their fantastic engineering skills to build salad towers:

They should really add a height restriction huh?

Do you want to build your own salad/food tower? The forward also has a step-by-step photo guide of how one builds a salad tower:

As you can see, you have decorative carrots radiating like the sun, surrounding a small mountain of lettuce, peas and corn kernels. You then continually stack pineapple chunks like you’re building a medieval fortress and fill the hallow centers with even more peas and corn. Next, add some pizazz to the tower by using the subtle pastel green from the cantaloupes for a colorful addition. Add in a couple bananas in the layers to bind this tower of awesomeness like Elmer’s glue. Keep layering and before you know it, you have a tower.

So the next time that you go to a buffet or the Chinese Pizza Hut salad bar, construct your own architectural masterpiece with that handy pictorial I provided.
