Baharat Lamb Hand Pies

Hand pies: the best invention ever. You can eat hand pies anywhere because, uh, they fit in your hand.

These hand pies are filled with ground lamb, baharat, mint, and other delicious savory things.

For 8 servings:

  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2/3 c. yellow onion, finely chopped (almost minced)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 8 oz. ground lamb
  • 1/2 c. fresh tomato, diced
  • 2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon mint, chopped
  • 2 tsp. baharat
  • 1/2 tsp. red chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 12 oz. can Pillsbury® Grands! buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 large egg, beaten + one teaspoon of water, for egg wash

Preheat the oven to 350F. In 10” skillet, cook the garlic and onions in vegetable oil over medium for a minutes, stirring constantly. Add the lamb and stir occasionally until the meat is not pink. Let the meat cool for about 2 minutes. Drain the liquid from the pan. Mix together the meat/onion mixture, tomato, herbs, baharat, chili pepper, and salt. Roll each biscuit into rounds about 5” in diameter. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling on half of each round.

Fold other half over filling and then press the edges with your fingers. Use a fork to seal.

Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Brush the egg wash over the hand pies. Bake for about 15 to 17 minutes
